Why cant oxygen have +4 oxidation state even though it has 4 electrons in the 2P orbital.

Actually oxygen is too much electronegative and second largest electronegative atom other than fluorine. So if you want that it shows+4 oxidation state then it is only possible in compound like OF4 which did not exist. Hence it didn't show +4 oxidation state
