now tan^1(x) is an increasing function, and its range is (π/2,π/2)
but the domain of the function is (1,1)
therefore range of π/2 + tan^1(x) = (π/2+ tan^1(1),π/2+ tan^1(1))
hence (π/4,3π/4).
therefore, π/4+3π/4=π

avg speed = $total$ $distance$/ $total$ $time$
avg velocity = $total$ $displacement$/ $total$ $time$
