Unit and measurement (Dipole moment)

  • What is the dimensional formula of a dipole moment?

  • @indranil

Dipole moment is product of dipole charge and their seperation (basically)
    So, μ=δd\mu=\delta dμ=δd
    where,
    μ→\mu \rightarrowμ Dipole moment
δ→\delta \rightarrowδ Magnitude of charge on dipole [Dipole is of form: δ+−−−δ−\delta^+---\delta^-δ+δ]
d→d \rightarrowd Distance between positive and negative charges

    So, μ=[ATL]\mu = [ATL]μ=[ATL]
    A represents current.
    T represents time..
    L represents length.
